The Eastern Fields Wind Project is located in eastern Ontario, in the Municipality of the Nation and the Township of Champlain.
The project was initially started by Leader Resources Inc. and was named the Gauthier Wind Farm. Renewable Energy Systems (RES) acquired the project in August 2015 and the project was awarded a contract from the IESO in March 2016.
RES is a global family-owned company that has over 30 years of experience in the development and construction of renewable energy projects. Recently, RES has built over 500 MWs of wind power projects in Ontario since 2010. Learn more about us at res-group.com.
Some project facts:
- The project is capped at 32 MW of generation and will include 9 total turbine towers
- The turbine towers will be about 132m high with blades 68m long
- Once built, the project will produce enough clean energy to power 10,000 Ontarian homes
RES is progressing development of the site including wind resource measurement, transmission availability, initiating public consultation, launching environmental and archaeological assessments, and refining project design and engineering.
The project will undergo extensive study over the coming years as it goes through the exhaustive Renewable Energy Approvals process.
